Large Oak Box, Scotland
The wooden box is nicely varnished and has the crest of the Chief of Chisholm engraved on a small brass mounting on the centre of the outside of the lid. The hinges and corner mountings are also brass.
Since it is lined with green baize material it is assumed that former chiefs would have stored their kilts, plaids and accessories in it, or some other precious items at Erchless Castle.
It was purchased many years ago from an antique and saleroom firm in Inverness.
